Parents who are bored with using
Traditional lullabies to try and get their little ones to sleep may find solace in a series of albums on the way from Baby
Rock Records.
The Lullaby Renditions series launches on August 29 with three albums featuring the music of
Coldplay,
Radiohead and
Metallica adapted into soothing songs suitable for an infant's nursery.
"Your favourite band's music changes your life, and most fans listen to their favourites over and over, so this is a fun way to keep listening with an interesting new twist while passing an appreciation on to their little ones," says Valerie Aiello, the executive producer of the series.
All of the albums were arranged and performed by Michael Armstrong, using glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron and other instruments. He took care to customize each song to reflect the mood, composition and spirit of the artist. "Lullaby Renditions of
Coldplay is very elaborate and lush, whereas Lullaby Renditions of
Pink Floyd is very tranquil and gentle," explains Aiello.
September 19 will bring albums featuring music from Floyd and
Tool, while collections from
The Cure and
The Beach Boys will follow on October 10. You can fill trick-or-treaters' bags with
Led Zeppelin and
Nirvana lullabies when those discs arrive on October 31. If you're still hung over from New Year's on January 2, listening to The Pixies and Queens Of The Stone Age editions with your baby might help ease your pain. The last albums scheduled, at the moment, will feature music from Bjork and No Doubt and come out on January 23.
