*** 1: “She Said, She Said”
(Beatles/Album: "Revolver"/1966)
She said "I know what it's like to be dead
I know what it is to be sad".
And she's making me feel like I've never been born.
I said "Who put all those things in your head
Things that ake me feel that I'm mad
And you're making me feel like I've never been born".
She said "you don't understand what I said"
I said "No, no, no, you're wrong
When I was a boy everything was right
Everything was right".
I said "Even though you know what you know
I know that I'm ready to leave
'Cause you're making me feel like I've never been born".
She said "you don't understand what I said"
I said "No, no, no, you're wrong
When I was a boy everything was right
Everything was right".
I said "Even though you know what you know
I know that I'm ready to leave
'Cause you're making me feel like I've never been born".
She said “I know what it's like to be dead
I know what it is to be sad...”
George Harrison “ταξίδευαν”. Τότε ο Fonda του είπε "I know what it's like to be dead".
Αυτό εννοούσε με τη φράση "I know what it's like to be dead".
*** 2: “Lady D'Arbanville
(Cat Stevens/Album: "Mona Bone Jakon"/1970)
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why do you sleep so still
I'll wake you tomorrow
And you will be my fill,
yes you will be my fill
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why does it grieve me so
But your heart seems so silent
Why do you breathe so low,
why do you breathe so low
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why do you sleep so still
I'll wake you tomorrow
And you will be my fill,
yes you will be my fill
My Lady D'Arbanville
You look so cold tonight
Your lips feel like winter
Your skin has turned to white,
your skin has turned to white
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why do you sleep so still
I'll wake you tomorrow
And you will be my fill,
yes you will be my fill
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why do you grieve me so
But your heart seems so silent
Why do you breathe so low,
why do you breathe so low
I loved you my lady
Though in your grave you lie
I'll always be with you
This rose will never die,
this rose will never die
I loved you my lady
Though in your grave you lie
I'll always be with you
This rose will never die,
this rose will never die
Ο Stevens της έγραψε επίσης τα: "Wild World" και "Hard-Headed Woman".
*** 3: "Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)"
(Melanie/Album: " Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)"/1970)
Lay down lay down
Lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
Lay down lay down
Lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
We were so close there was no room
We bled inside each others' wounds
We all had caught the same disease
And we all sang the songs of peace
Lay down lay down
Lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
Lay down lay down
Lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
So raise the candles high
'Cause if you don't we could stay
Black against the night
So raise them higher again
And if you do we could stay dry against the rain
We were so close there was no room
We bled inside each others' wounds
We all had caught the same disease
And we all sang the songs of peace
Some came to sing
Some came to pray
Some came to keep the dark away
So raise the candles high
'Cause if you don't we could stay
Black against the night
So raise them higher again
And if you do we could stay dry against the rain
- Η Melanie (Safka), έγινε γνωστή από το τραγούδι "Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma", που το τραγούδησε στο φεστιβάλ του Woodstock κάτω από τη βροχή.
*** 4: “A Man Needs A Maid”
(Neil Young/Album: "Harvest"/1972)
My life is changing in so many ways
I don't know who to trust anymore
There's a shadow running thru my days
Like a beggar going from door to door.
I was thinking that maybe I'd get a maid
Find a place nearby for her to stay.
Just someone to keep my house clean,
Fix my meals and go away.
A maid.
A man needs a maid.
A maid.
It's hard to make that change
When life and love turns strange.
And old.
To give a love, you gotta live a love.
To live a love, you gotta be "part of"
When will I see you again?
A while ago somewhere I don't know when
I was watching a movie with a friend.
I fell in love with the actress.
She was playing a part that I could understand.
A maid.
A man needs a maid.
A maid.
When will I see you again?
*** 5: “Candle In The Wind”
(Elton John/Album: "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"/1973)
Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
Crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on a treadmill
And they made you change your name
Loneliness was tough
toughest roll you ever played
Hollywood created a superstar
and pain was the
Price you paid
even when you died
oh, the press still hounded you
all the papers had to say
was that Marilyn was found in the nude
Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
Goodbye Norma Jean
From the young man in the 22nd row
who sees you as something more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe.
And It seems to me you lived your life
Like a Candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would've like to known you
but I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did
Janis Joplin.
Μετά την κηδεία, το ηχογράφησε ξανά με τίτλο "Candle In The Wind '97" και το αφιέρωσε στην Diana.
*** 6: “The Right Profile”
(Clash/Album: "London Calling"/1979)
hey- where have I seen this guy?
in "Red River"?
or "A Place in the Sun"?
maybe "The Misfits"?
or "From Here To Eternity"?
and everybody says "is he alright?"
and everybody says "What's he like?"
and everybody says "sure looks funny"
that's Montgomery Clift, honey
New York, New York, 42nd Street
hustlers rustle and pimps pimp the beat
Monty Clift is recognized at dawn
he ain't got no shoes and his clothes are torn
and everybody says "is he alright?"
and everybody says "What's he like?"
and everybody says "sure looks funny"
that's Montgomery Clift, honey
I see a car smashed at night
cut the applause and dim the lights
Monty's face is broken on a wheel
is he alive? Can he still feel?
and everybody says "is he alright?"
and everybody says "What's he like?"
and everybody says "sure looks funny"
that's Montgomery Clift, honey
and everybody says "is he alright?"
and everybody says "What's he like?"
and everybody says "sure looks funny"
that's Montgomery Clift, honey
Nembutol numbs it all
but I prefer alcohol...
and everybody says "is he alright?"
and everybody says "What's he like?"
and everybody says "sure looks funny"
that's Montgomery Clift, honey
He said "go out and get me my old movie stills
Go out and get me another roll of bills
There I go again shaking but I ain't got the chills
ARRRGHHHGORRA BUH BHUH DO ARRRRGGGGHHHHNNNN!!!!..."
- Πρόκειται για τον ηθοποιό Montgomery Clift, ("A Place in the Sun", "From Here to Eternity") και την ταραχώδη ζωή του.
Ένα απ’ αυτά, είναι και το "Monty Got a Raw Deal" των R.E.M. από το album "Automatic for the People", του 1992.

If you believed they put a man on the moon, man on the moon.
If you believe there's nothing up my sleeve, then nothing is cool.
- Πρόσωπα και πράγματα που αναφέρονται στο τραγούδι: Mott the Hoople, Life, Monopoly, Twister, Risk, Fred Blassie,
Elvis Presley, Moses, Sir Isaac Newton, και Charles Darwin.
- Χρησιμοποιήθηκε στην ταινία “Man On the Moon”/1999 με τον Jim Carrey, που αφορά στη ζωή του Andy Kaufman. (Οι R.E.M.
*** 8: “Take A Bow”
(
Madonna/Album: "Take A Bow"/1994)
Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
Light are low, the curtains down
There's no one here
There's no one here, there's no one in the crowd
Say your lines but do you feel them
Do you mean what you say when there's no one around
Watching you, watching me, one lonely star
One lonely star you don't know who you are
I've always been in love with you
I guess you've always known it's true
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye
Say good-bye, say good-bye
Make them laugh, it comes so easy
When you get to the part
Where you're breaking my heart
Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown
Just make 'em smile the whole world loves a clown
Wish you well, I cannot stay
You deserve an award for the role that you played
No more masquerade, you're one lonely star
One lonely star and you don't know who you are
Say good-bye, say good-bye
All the world is a stage
And everyone has their part
But how was I to know which way the story'd go
How was I to know you'd break
You'd break, you'd break, you'd break
You'd break my heart
I've always been in love with you
I've always been in love with you
Guess you've always known
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye
Say good-bye, say good-bye
Say good-bye
*** 9: “The Great Beyond”
(R.E.M./Album: "Man On The Moon Soundtrack"/1999)
I ‘ve watched the stars fall silent
from your eyes oh the sights that I have seen
I can ‘t believe that I believed
I wish that you could see
There ‘s a new planet in the solar system
there is nothing up my sleeve
I ‘m pushing an elephant up the stairs
I ‘m tossing off punchlines that were never there
Over my shoulder a piano falls crashing to the ground
In all this talk of time talk is fine
but I don ‘t want to stay around
Why can ‘t we pantomime just close our eyes
and sleep sweet dreams me and you with wings on our feet?
I ‘m breaking through
I ‘m bending spoons
I ‘m keeping flowers in full bloom
I ‘m looking for answers from the great beyond
I want the hummingbirds a dancing bear the sweetest dreams of you
I ‘m looking to the stars
I ‘m looking to the moon
I ‘m breaking through
I ‘m bending spoons
I ‘m keeping flowers in full bloom
I ‘m looking for answers from the great beyond
*** 10: “Moses”
(
Coldplay/Album: "Live 2003"/2003)
Come on now, don't you want to see?
This thing that's happening to me
Like Moses has power over sea
So you've got power over me
Come on now, don't you want to know?
You're a refuge, somewhere I can go
You're air that, air that I can breathe
Cause you're my golden opportunity
And oh, oh yes I would
If I only could
And you know I would
And baby I, oh baby I
I wish
Come on now, don't you want to see?
Just what a difference you've made in me
I'll be waiting oh no matter what you say
Cause I've been waiting for days, days, days
And oh, oh yes I would
If I only could
And you know I would
And baby I, oh baby I
I wish
I wish
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
If the sky's gonna fall down, let it fall on me
If you're gonna break down, you can break on me
If the sky's gonna fall down, let it fall on me
If it's gonna rain down, it can rain on me
It can rain on me
Coldplay, Chris
